In the early 1900’s, the farm, Finca Candelaria, was originally a sugarcane plantation. In 2005 the farm was purchased by the Zelaya family, a family with deep roots in coffee production, and a complete renovation program was undertaken. The entire 200 hectare farm was planted with 100% new coffee trees from 2005-2009.
Finca Candelaria is close to both Antigua, the ﬁrst coffee-producing region in Guatemala, and Acatenango, with its rich volcanic soils, so this coffee tends to be high in acidity and very complex.
